Old Tin Mine

This location was an old tin mine, restored by a group of mine enthusiasts in South West Cornwall.

After months of preparation, we shot in this mine for my Graduation short in March 2023.

This was the unit base for the shoot. It was quite small, however inside we were able to fit our cast, costume and HMU team. There was electricity inside, and we were able to keep it warm with a heater throughout the day.

We use this space for any kit, in which our Production Runner Ned Holland kept an eye on throughout the day.  We were lucky with the weather, but we had a Gazeboo ready for anyone who needed to stay at the unit base.

Due to the location being uphill, we needed to set up a second Unit/Kit base at the top, just outside the Mine.

We used this space to prepare all crew going into the mine and to keep any kit not used. Radio communication from the Unit base and Mine base was used heavily throughout. This area was supervised by our Production Manager Robin Chandler-Payne

A gazeboo was used as well as copious amounts of tarp to keep the kit as dry and safe as possible.

Shooting inside the mine was a very challenging yet rewarding task. The main problem throughout was the lack of space. Creating a small checkpoint in the mine, known throughout the day as the 'Enys Men Stoop' was used to place any kit not being used as well as a place for any of the team not needed on location to go.
